Denis Kozlov’s hashing utility, the aptly named Hasher provides support for quite a few algorithms: CRC32, MD2, MD4, MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA512, RipeMD128, RipeMD160, and ED2K. If you want to check a file’s integrity, load or drag & drop that file onto Hasher and it will quickly calculate all the checksums and hashes that I just mentioned.

Hasher is available as an installer and as portable version. No matter which version you decide to get, the simple fact of the matter is that Hasher should work just fine with any Windows edition you can think of. According to the developer, this tool is compatible with any Windows edition from Windows 98 onward.

The main panel on Hasher’s interface presents all the algorithms that the application supports. Above it there’s a panel that presents the file size, attributes, and the dates when the file was created and modified. And way up at the top there’s a traditional File Menu and a toolbar with nice big buttons to add a file, view and save the log, hash text, and so on.

Using Hasher is a very straightforward matter, as you can see from the Quick Look video that accompanies this article. Just take a file and load it into Hasher, either by using the Add Files function or by dragging & dropping it onto Hasher’s interface. Once you’ve done that, Hasher will calculate its checksums and hashes and present the results on its interface.

Hasher is available as a free Lite version and as a paid Pro version. The latter can be used for commercial purposes, offers prioritized technical support, and lets you process an unlimited number of files per run. Hasher Lite, which is free for non-commercial use only, can process a maximum of 100 files per run.

Hasher works as advertised, it is easy to use, and it provides support for many algorithms. It really is a very useful hashing utility.
